Columbia Surgical Specialists - General Surgery provides specialized surgical treatment for disorders of the endocrine system, including the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Our experienced surgeons perform thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, and adrenalectomy procedures for both benign and malignant conditions, working closely with endocrinologists to ensure comprehensive care.
Our evaluation process includes a comprehensive review of your medical history, physical examination, and review of imaging and laboratory studies. We utilize advanced diagnostic tools including ultrasound, fine-needle aspiration biopsy, CT scans, and nuclear medicine studies to accurately diagnose endocrine conditions. Our surgeons work in collaboration with endocrinologists, radiologists, and pathologists to develop individualized treatment plans.
We offer both traditional open and minimally invasive surgical approaches, including video-assisted and robotic techniques when appropriate. Our surgeons are skilled in preserving important structures such as the recurrent laryngeal nerve and parathyroid glands during thyroid surgery. We perform total and partial thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer, goiter, and hyperthyroidism; parathyroidectomy for hyperparathyroidism; and adrenalectomy for adrenal tumors and hyperfunctioning adrenal conditions.
