Adrenalectomy

Adrenalectomy Services
Columbia Surgical Specialists - General Surgery provides adrenalectomy (adrenal gland removal) for patients with benign adrenal tumors or hyperfunctioning adrenal conditions. The adrenal glands produce important hormones, and removal may be necessary when they become diseased or produce excessive hormones.
Our evaluation includes a comprehensive review of your medical history, symptoms, and hormonal evaluation to determine if the adrenal gland is producing excessive hormones. We utilize imaging studies including CT scans and MRI to assess the size and characteristics of adrenal tumors. We work in collaboration with endocrinologists to determine the most appropriate treatment approach, which may include medical management or surgical removal.
We perform both minimally invasive and open adrenalectomy. Minimally invasive adrenalectomy offers benefits including smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stay. We are experienced in managing complex cases including large tumors, pheochromocytomas requiring special preoperative preparation, and bilateral adrenalectomy. Our surgeons work closely with anesthesiologists to ensure safe perioperative management, especially for patients with hormonally active tumors.
